ANZAM Associate member PD – Session 7 – 17th August 2022

SESSION 7 – Teaching sustainability and business in Aotearoa New Zealand: My experiences and ongoing journey of embedding indigenous content with Associate Professor Sara Walton.

Associate Professor Sara Walton teaches and researches in the area of sustainability, climate

change and business at the Otago Business School, University of Otago. She is the director

of the Master of Sustainable Business programme and Co-Director of the Otago Climate

Change Network. Sara has contributed towards knowledge in environmental and social

entrepreneurship, innovation for environmental sustainability, sustainable transitions,

environmental conflicts and understanding work in changing futures.

This presentation will cover my experiences of developing sustainability as a topic into a Masters and minor at Otago.

The main focus will be around a personal reflection on embedding Māori and Pacific content into teaching. Embedding indigenous content across business schools is an important issue in Aotearoa NZ to honour Te Tiriti (The Treaty).

For myself I consider this to be a journey and I am navigating and learning as I go – and I will share my experiences.
