Building Resilience in Operations & Supply Chains during Major Disruptions
Resilience in supply chains (SC) is as vital for organisations as immune systems are for human beings.
Resilience capabilities enable recovery and adaptation when stakeholders in SC are exposed to and affected by disruptions and uncertain factors, ranging from natural disasters, geopolitical risks, pandemics, market changes and forecasting accuracy, to execution problems.
All these factors have significant negative impacts on organisations’ resilience. Unlike traditional operational strategies, profit motives are not paramount. Rather, the objectives are to provide efficient relief to disruptions and to utilise as many resources as possible.
Thanks to advancements of digital technologies, eg: the Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, Big Data analytics, Artificial Intelligence, there is a growing interest from both industry and academia in applying data-driven prescriptive models, empirical analysis, and business analytics to assist organisations in making reliable and resilient decisions.
In order to build bridges between practice and theory, this symposium aims to provide a platform for academics, industry partners, research students, and other practitioners to share novel empirical and modelling approaches for coping with SC disruptions.
The 19th ANZAM Operations, Supply Chain and Services Management Symposium is hosted by the Department of Management at Monash University.
Registration opens late September
